WATCH: ‘Borrowed Time’ A Powerful And Dark Short Film By Two Pixar Animators

The award-winning short Borrowed Time is available online for a limited time and is a must watch.

The short is the passion project of Pixar’s Lou Hamou-Lhadj & Andrew Coats, who have animation credits including WALL•E, Toy Story 3, Brave, Horton Hears a Who, Cars 2, The Good Dinosaur, Rio and more.

The duo spent their free time over the last five years crafting a film that stands apart from traditional animation themes.

“A goal for us was to make something that kind of contested the notion of animation being a genre, and one for children specifically,” Hamou-Lhadj explained in a making-of Borrowed Time mini-documentary.

The film features themes of loss, sadness, and regret as it follows a “weathered Sheriff” that “returns to the remains of an accident he has spent a lifetime trying to forget.”
