No Doubt’s ‘Tragic Kingdom’ Turns 20

Today, October 10th 2015, marks the 20th anniversary of No Doubt’s ‘Tragic Kingdom’.

A masterful blending of genres, an extremely unique sound and style, this band and album were essential for the weird kids of the ’90s.

I remember that this CD was one of three that I would sneakily steal from my older sister…along with the ‘Clueless’ soundtrack, and a little bit later, Third Eye Blind’s self-titled.

I also have vivid memories of listening to the radio, blank cassette ready to record in my old-school stereo, waiting for “Just A Girl”, “Spiderwebs”, and “Don’t Speak” to come on. It inspired my future career and my irrational obsession with making mixes.

Gwen Stefani…I mean, c’mon. That Chick. This Band. The Album. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
