Hello Bay Area! Happy Friday!
Before you get started with your weekend, take a minute to peruse some of the week’s biggest stories.
Snapchat’s newest set of filters, called “Lenses,” are fascinating, scary, and completely addicting. Featuring a range of animations for your face, the new Lenses offer you the opportunity to make yourself look like a monocle-sporting senior, a rainbow-barfing anime character, a glossy-eyed crier, and more. It is already your new favorite toy.
A woman on “Jeopardy” this week just could not figure out the Final question, so she did what any brave American would do: scribble in the one single phrase Trebek surely despises more than anything else. Luckily for all of us watching, Trebek took the bait.
Who knew a budding singer had such a knack for imitating some of music’s finest vocalists? Jimmy Fallon brought her on his late night show to play a sort of roulette karaoke duel with him, and Grande just completely slaughtered him.
Naming a baby is hard work, so the hero that created this hipster name generator is truly a big help. From farm-derived names like “Fig” and “Leif” to old-school cool monikers like “Esther” and “Hubert,” the generator is set on making your name selection process as simple as paleo, vegan, fair-trade apple pie.
After months (years, probably) of social network users calling for a more appropriate response to sad news than a “Like” button, Facebook is finally about to roll out a “Dislike” button. Just in time for election season, as luck would have it.
