Jurassic World hasn’t even premiered in all its territories yet (its still due to open in Japan August 5), and already, Universal has nabbed an opening date for a sequel to the film: June 22, 2018.
According to Variety, both Chris Pratt and co-star Bryce Dallas Howard will return to play lead roles, and Steven Spielberg will likewise be back to executive produce the film. Unfortunately, we do not believe Universal renewed the contract for the Indominus rex.
Yesterday (July 22), Jurassic World became the third highest-grossing movie ever, knocking The Avengers into fourth place. Currently, Jurassic World sits just behind Titanic at #1 and Avatar at #2. It has so far banked $1.522 billion in ticket sales.
