‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ Reveals Its New Bandleader

By Alyssa Pereira

“For my money, nobody plays like Jon Batiste. And you can trust me, because it is my money.”

It’s official: “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” has just revealed its brand new bandleader in New Orleans  pop, jazz, and blues virtuoso Jon Batiste.

The Louisiana-born musician, who is currently in the band Stay Human (on piano in video above), is accomplished in bass, melodica, piano, and percussion, and currently serves as the Associate Artistic Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, and appears in both HBO’s “Treme” and in Spike Lee’s “Red Hook Summer.” According to the official press release, he’s also proficient in “conversational Spanish and Microsoft Office (except Outlook, which cannot be mastered),” and  “is Julliard-trained, street-tested, and honey-baked, to seal in his juices.”

Oh, and just keep in mind that Batiste is only 28.
