This New Camera Case Lets Dogs Take Photos Of All The Things That Make Them Happy

By Alyssa Pereira

Ever wonder exactly your dog is thinking?

You may never know, but you may soon get at least one step closer with Nikon’s new in-the-works project, which fuses “Heartography” technology with 3D printing.

Nikon printed out a camera case for one of their models, the Coolpix L31, with some clever technology that allows pet owners to see exactly what makes their dog happy, nervous, scared, or excited.

According to Nikon’s site, the way it works is actually pretty simple. The case attaches around the neck of your pup to measure its heartbeat, and whenever it rises above a particular threshold, the case snaps a photo. That photo is then transmitted via Bluetooth along with heart rate data, so that you can see what makes your pet’s blood pump.

As you might imagine, this would include anything and everything, from food, to other dogs, cats, babies, and even skateboarders and mailmen, because dogs love basically everything. However, isn’t that just part of the fun?

No word yet on when the case will be commercially available, but as it already has its own site, it may only be a short ways away.
