Harry Potter fans, hold onto your broomsticks — the series spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, might have just found its lead character.
According to Variety, Eddie Redmayne, the British actor best known for his Academy Award-winning portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, has just been offered the lead role in the adaptation of the J.K. Rowling-penned script.
Taking place in New York around 1915, roughly 70 years before Harry Potter’s story begins, the story tells about Newt Scamander, a “magizoologist” who studies magical creatures. Potter fans will remember that in the series, Harry owned a textbook that Scamander had written, called — you guessed it — Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
According to the magazine, Redmayne was only holding out for the chance to read the final script.
Do you think Redmayne will be a natural in the magical world?
