Tejano music star Selena Quintanilla may be the next to get the hologram treatment.
According to the late singer’s Facebook page, Selena’s immediate family members are working with an independent tech company in Nevada called Acrovirt LLC that will create a “Digitized Human Essence” of her.
In other words, they’re going to create a hologram that, according to Billboard, “will release new songs and videos, will collaborate with current hit artists, and aims to go on tour in 2018.”
An Indiegogo campaign aiming to raise $500,000 will soon be underway to help the hologram become an ironic reality, and the subsequent project has already garnered a partnership with the San Diego Latino Film Festival.
Acrovirt seems to be just as excited as the family.
“Selena is a Latin American icon who was taken before her time,” founder Terry Kennedy wrote on the SelenaTheOne website. “Acrovirt and the Quintanilla family are excited to announce that Selena will continue to share her creative talents with the world in a new innovative way.”
