Almost twenty years ago in Charlotte, North Carolina, a bank heist of $17.3 million dollars executed by at least eight people made national headlines as the largest amount of cash stolen in U.S. history. It became known as the 1997 Loomis Fargo Robbery.
Thanks to the flurry of dumb moves by the criminals involved, the story is kind of amusing, so it makes sense that a fleet of stellar comedy actors would be tapped to bring this story back to life.
Zach Galifianakis stars in the film, with Kristen Wiig and Owen Wilson supporting as collaborators and co-conspirators in the heist. Also in the film (though sadly not in the trailer much) are Jason Sudeikis, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon of “Saturday Night Live”, and a few other familiar faces).
‘Masterminds’ premieres in theaters August 14, 2015.
