Oakland’s Cat Town Cafe Will Open Next Month

It has been kind of a while since we first heard about Cat Town Cafe, a cafe/cat adoption center hybrid rumored to open in Oakland.

The cafe, or better known as your soon-to-be favorite place on Earth, pulls cats and kittens from the Oakland Animal Services who are at high risk of being euthanized because of overcrowding. The Cafe puts these babies in the cafe’s “Cat Zone”, a space where patrons can go and hang out with felines for free (or make a reservation with a $10 donation) and *hopefully* adopt one or two.

But before you make a reserve your spot, you better brush up on your cat translation skills.

Separate from the “Cat Zone”, the Cafe also brings in local snacks and coffee from nearby businesses, including Authentic Bagel Co., S+M Vegan, Bicycle Coffee Company, Shades of Sugar and Kitchener Collective. According to The Bold Italic, they are also serving “catnip tea”, a tea that (germ phobias aside) you can drink and share with cats. Because I guess that’s a thing that exists.

The Cat Town Cafe will open October 25 at 1869 Broadway in Oakland.
