Truong Tran is a poet and artist. He teaches poetry at Mills College and is a lecturer at San Francisco State University.
Tran was born in Vietnam and moved to the Bay Area with his family when he was 5. His mother was a seamstress and his father worked for a big computer company. They left Vietnam because Tran’s mother feared for the safety of her husband, who had been in the military, and her family.
Written words were Tran’s first artistic expression…he later turned to fine arts. He talks with me about his memories of coming to this country as a small child, and his current art and writing projects.
