We love Instagram. What began as a little old app back in 2010 has burgeoned into a massive social media platform, enabling nostalgia (#tbt!), friend bonding (#loveher), and even vanity (#selfie). We love playing with the filters, the angles, and letting everyone know where we are—it’s a lifestyle we’ve grown to love. And, with the introduction of video last June, we’re in motion too.
But there’s always a downside. It’s pretty easy to get swept up into all the bad habits Instagram-users indulge in, so we’re offering a little lesson in Insta-etiqutte, as demonstrated by some of your favorite artists.
DO: Post #Selfies
It’s a good thing to have self-esteem, and selfies could in fact, help yours grow. Celebs like Rihanna and Justin are notorious for their selfies, and they have plenty of swagger to show for it.
DON’T: Post Only Selfies
Too many selfies can make you look vain or cause your self-esteem to plummet.
DO: Celebrate Your Good Days
It’s not an #aftersex #selfie, but it’s still alarming.
DO: Embrace Your Quirks
It’s good to be weird.
DON’T: Scare People
Miley, we’re afraid of what’s happening here.
DO: Take Pics With Your Besties
DO: Use Filters in an Awesome Way
This is why the internet was made.
What is even happening here?
DO: Remember Your Travels and Adventures
Take it from Taylor.
DON’T: Try to Use Your Phone Underwater
That is, unless you’re Cara Delevigne.
DO: Love Your Pet
DON’T: Advertise Your Pet Projects
DO: Become Friends with Ellie Goulding
Apparently, everyone else is already.
