Bayview Opera House In San Francisco

Bayview Opera House is the oldest theatre in San Francisco! It was built in 1888, predating the Palace of FineĀ  Arts (1015) and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor (1924).

It’s located on Third Street between Newcomb and Oakdale Streets in the Bayview Hunters Point District.

It’s a registered landmark building, approved by the national Register of Historic Places by the National Parks Service.

Bayview Opera House is a meeting place as well as a performance space. This arts and cultural center offers programs and classes throughout the year to children, teens, adults and seniors. It will close for a year of renovations starting in March 2014 however the classes will continue at nearby venues.

Barbara Ockel is the Executive Director and Theo Ellington is the Vice President of the Board of Directors (who grew up int he neighborhood!)
