David Laskin traces his family back 150 years to the Russian Empire. A Torah scribe and his wife had 6 children who went on to become the three branches of Laskin’s family. One branch stayed in Europe and was wiped out by the Nazis in WWII, one branch emigrated to Palestine to help found the state of Israel, and the third branch emigrated to America where one enterprising member of the family founded the Maidenform Bra Company.
