This week, we heard that “Breaking Bad” was being remade in Colombia … as a Spanish-language show called “Metastasis”. The show will reportedly largely follow the basic story and grit of the original and feature a chemistry teach turned methamphetamine cook named Walter Blanco. Walter will be surrounded by the familiar cohorts and foils of his partner Jose (Jesse), wife Cielo (Skyler) and narcotics agent brother-in-law Henry Navarro (Hank).
One missing element? The motor home meth lab.
“Motor homes are not popular in Colombia,” Angelica Guerra, Sony Pictures Television senior VP and managing director of production for Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market told The Hollywood Reporter, “so audiences will see Walter and Jose cooking up their first several batches of methamphetamine in an old, barely drivable school bus.”
And now there’s a trailer.
