Creativity Explored advances the value and diversity of artistic expression. They provide artists with developmental disabilities the means to create, exhibit, and sell their art in our studios and gallery, and around the world.
They have studios where adult artists work Monday through Friday and they have a gallery that’s open 7 days a week. You can purchase greeting cards or original works.
Artists get 50% from the sales of their original art, and a licensing fee if their art is used for cards, wrapping paper or other products.
Creativity Explored works with CB2, a modern furniture and home decor company with stores in Berkeley and San Francisco as well as several other states and in Canada. Several artists have their designs on pillows. You can check out the online catalog at www.CB2.com.
Writer Beth Lisick has been working with Creativity Explored, hanging out with the artists and getting their stories, ideas and advice on a number of different subjects including romance and friendship. The booklets are wonderful! You can purchase them online or in the gallery.
Ann Kappas, the marketing director for the organization, joined Beth Lisick and me to talk about Creativity Explored.
