Today in their hometown of Chicago, multi-platinum Grammy-nominated group Fall Out Boy announced that they have reunited after an indefinitie hiatus and will debut their new single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” today on iTunes.

They celebrated by burning their back catalog in a bonfire at the site of the original Disco Demolition Night in 1979, now U.S. Cellular Field. They visited B96/Chicago and revealed the meaning behind their new album title.

“Rock and roll to me represents an attitude,” said Pete Wentz. “It represents something inside you. That’s why we got into playing music. That’s why I wanted to be in the band. So you can take it as an ironic thing or you can take it the way it is. We just wanted to do something that was fun and dangerous for us. We didn’t need to do the band again, we wanted to do it because it was fun.”

“Obvious and safe doesn’t seem that rock and roll to me,” laughed Patrick Stump.

Fall Out Boy’s fifth studio album Save Rock And Roll will be released on May 7th, 2013, the 10th anniversary of Fall Out Boy’s first full length studio album in 2003, Take This To Your Grave. It’s their first new studio album since Folie Á Deux in December 2008.

They also announced the Save Rock And Roll U.S. tour that will kick off one week after the album release on May 14 in Milwaukee, WI.
