RENO, Nev. (CBS SF ) – Colin Kapernick’s meteoric rise to NFL stardom has led to unprecedented interest in another man’s talents – the quarterback’s tattoo artist.
Reno artist Nes Andrion is the man behind the 49er signal caller’s one of a kind look. He has been using Kaepernick as a canvas since 2008, when he played for the University of Nevada.
Recently that relationship has begun to literally pay off as new customers sign up for new ink after every 49er win.
“I was pretty surprised. I was pretty amazed by it, because I didn’t really expect it was going to be this big, you know?” Andrion said.
Andrion said he’s fully aware that the novelty will not last forever.
