Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford is a world-class, non-profit hospital devoted to the care of babies, children, adolescents and expectant mothers. They have an extensive network of community and outreach services all around the Greater Bay Area and Pacific Northwest.

The hospital started in 1919 with the convalescent hospital near to the current location.  Lucille, a Stanford student, volunteered at the convalescent hospital. That hospital became Children’s Hospital. Later, after becoming Lucille Packard, she made a $40-million dollar donation to expand the hospital with the stipulation that care be available to all families, even those who could not pay.
