Hey Alice listeners, it’s Colette blogging for Jayn and we’re back at it again broadcasting live from Cars Land here at Disney’s California Adventure for the opening of Halloween Time! Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure have turned magically spooky to celebrate this Halloween season. Not only are we here for Halloween Time, but last night we were lucky enough to see an advanced screening of Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie.” Jayn, being the huge Tim Burton fan that she is, went as far as to say it was her favorite Tim Burton movie yet! The combo of amazing animation and the story that’s near and dear to Tim Burton’s heart makes me want to watch it over and over … and over again – it really was that good.
“Frankenweenie” is the story of young Victor Frankenstein and his dog Sparky. After Sparky dies in a tragic accident, Victor conducts an experiment to bring him back to life resulting in twists and turns of spooky and heartwarming unexpectedness. After the movie we got to see first hand how Tim Burton’s imagination came to life for this animation at “The Art of Frankenweenie” Exhibition in Disney’s California Adventure. If you love Tim Burton as much as Jayn does, you have to visit this huge exhibit of actual props, sets and puppets used to film this movie. I loved seeing how my favorite character “Weird Girl” was created from her wardrobe to her creepy cute kitty Mr. Whiskers- and Jayn was gushing over her favorite, Elsa, and all the detailed steps to creating her character. It was so incredible to see what actually goes in to making these stop-motion films and to see where Tim Burton himself worked to create this movie. For everyone biting their nails to see “Frankenweenie” in theaters when it opens, October 5th, this is a nice sneak peek of what to expect!
This morning we’ve been sitting in front of Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land talking to all the fantastic people here at Disney who make Halloween Time what it is! Chris Justesen, the Chef D’Cuisine here at the Disneyland Resort, brought us their specialty Halloween chocolate and sweets that were to die for! The uber talented Stacia Martin, a Disney Artist/Historian, paid us another visit and drew us a Frankengoofy that she signed for Jayn’s Peaches! Can’t wait to see her face when she sees it! The list of the great people we’ve met today goes on and on. As always, Disney treats us Alice girls like Disney Princesses and we are having a great time exploring the park and how they have recreated it for Halloween Time. The happiest place on Earth definitely got a little spookier!
