I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream, because it’s freaking FANTASTIC, and yummy, and scrumptious, well you get the idea.  August 18th is Soft Ice Cream Day, so naturally we went on a hunt for the best ice cream you can get in the Bay Area, which wasn’t an easy thing to do! With so many great places to choose from we finally narrowed it down to the top 10 with your help! If your favorite place didn’t make the cut, let us know!

10. Treat Ice Cream Co. -San Jose

It’s not very often you get an ice cream place that will give you yummy low-fat options as well as regular, but you can find it here! As well as seasonal flavors like lemon custard or marble root beer. And an everyday favorite, marble black raspberry!

9. Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous - San Francisco

Come try a home-made waffle cone and enjoy organic ice cream at it’s finest! There are tons of flavors to try and they change so you can always try something new and different to satisfy your taste buds!

8. The Olde San Francisco Creamery – Walnut Creek

Toasted Almond and Apple Pie flavors are some of the flavors that will make your mouth water in anticipation. They also offer sorbet, sundae’s and you can sit down! Which is a major plus when you just want to enjoy your ice cream!

7. Sweet Retreat Ice Cream Parlour- San Jose

Besides offering yogurt as well as ice cream, you can be sure that your portions will be huge! You can order multiple flavors on a single cone, and they will also mix in candy bars! Sounds like a winner to me!

6. Three Twins Ice Cream – San Rafael

With four bay area locations you can’t miss out on the yummyness that is three twins! Lemon Cookie is a favorite for this organic ice cream, which is also sold in groceries now! The SF location is currently unavailable though due to a fire!

5. CREAM – Berkeley

Not just your regular ice cream, they also offer cookie sandwiches! Double Chocolate Chip Cookie with Mint Chip Ice Cream in the middle is very popular. Soy options like Cherry chocolate chip are available as well!

4. Screamin’ MiMi’s – Sebastopol

All natural ingredients from Sonoma county enhance the delicious variety of ice cream you can try at this wonderful shop!Not only do they have friendly service and a wonderful decor full of bright fun colors, they have they best ice cream around which is really family friendly!

3. Bi-Rite – San Francisco

There might have been a riot if this place didn’t make the top 5! Fresh ingredients, add ons like marshmallows and hot fudge that satisfy your inner child, and signature ice creams like Balsamic Strawberry, Salted Caramel and honey lavender make this place a dream come true! Just don’t mind the intense line!

2. Fentons – Oakland

There is no reason you shouldn’t stop at Fentons. Ice Cream to die for, put it on your pie and it’s even better! Ice Cream Sundaes as big as your head! It’s every child’s dream and the atmosphere is amazing as well.

1. Mitchell’s Ice Cream – San Francisco

You only need to drive by to see the sea of people waiting to get their ice cream to know this place does it right! Amazing ice cream, traditional flavors and some unique like Ube, compliment the menu here. For a great price you get wonderful quality at the family owned shop that is  a staple for ice cream in San Francisco. Don’t want to wait in line? Grab a gallon or pint to go and enjoy at home!
