In celebration of National Cheesecake Day, we  have looked into the most delectable, decadent and straight up yummy cheesecake the Bay Area has to offer. Not that we needed an official holiday to celebrate cheesecake, but none-the-less we’ve narrowed it down to our favorite five after much consideration and input from our listeners. And no I’m sorry, your mother’s cheesecake (number one answer on Facebook) didn’t make the list, unless of course she’s willing to let us bust in her kitchen with a camera and crew and our own forks!

1. Zanze’s Cheesecake – San Francisco

A small quaint store that offers to-go cheesecake, you’ll have the pleasure of meeting the man himself Mr. Zanze. They offer six flavors and three sizes, all of which come with rave reviews, heavenly was used more than once!

2. Reuschelle’s Cheesecake – San Leandro

This store offers free delivery, original cheesecakes, chocolate lovers, or even one’s with alcohol. They also go so far as to make custom flavors for you, so there is a cake for you and whatever your tastes are.

3. J.M. Rosen Cheesecakes – Petaluma

Rumor has it Frank Sinatra would have this cheesecake shipped to him. If you can’t make it to Petaluma to pick this dessert up, you’re in luck, they also sell their cheesecakes in restaurants in Northern California.

4. Schuberts Bakery – San Francisco

Schuberts has been around since 1911, so you can expect a quality cheesecake. With tons of treats you can grab something on the side like a cookie or cupcake. Or even try a new flavor, Mango Cheesecake anyone?

5.Charlie’s Cheesecake Works – San Jose

There is no easy decision when going to Charlie’s. You could go for one of “Charlie’s Poppers” bite sized cheesecakes, “Bambinos” a 4oz individual cheesecake, Traditional in all kinds of yummy flavors or gluten-free! The delicious choices are endless, and I’m not complaining!

Honorable mentions, Cheesecake Factory (are you happy now?) and Nation’s, pumpkin cheesecake there is delicious. Happy Eating!
