You can’t go wrong with great food and music. That’s why this Saturday you should head down to Golden Gate Park from 11-6 for the 13th annual Oysterfest. Sit back and enjoy the fresh air and sun while listening to music from Minus the Bear, Young the Giant, Manchester Orchestra and more, all while enjoying some succulent oysters. There will be oysters from British Columbia to Mexico, as well as some local favorites like O’Reillys and Mayes Oyster House.
If oysters aren’t your thing, never fear. There will be all kinds of scrumptious food to devour. Pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, Italian sausages, and top it all off with some hand dipped ice cream, and since it’s the weekend those calories don’t count! You can always exercise your mind at the Oyster history exhibition, and learn how to make oysters with a cooking demonstration, or watch the “Shuck and suck” competition. For those brave souls who brought their children there is a play area for the kids.
Happy hour for all alcoholic beverages will go on until 2pm, and of course because this event is in the wonderful city that is San Francisco, it will be a green event! All food containers and beverage containers will be compostable, so you’re helping the earth, enjoying awesome food and music, sounds like a complete Saturday to me.
