Happy 75th Birthday Golden Gate Bridge!

The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is one of the groups that is throwing a birthday bash today at Crissy Field, Fort Point,  and the Presidio starting at 11am.

The Golden Gate Festival will celebrate the iconic international landmark through music, art, dance, historical exhibits, a display of cars from 1937 to the present, a classic watercraft parade, fireworks, and a spectacular grand finale.

The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy started in 1981…The mission of the Parks Conservancy is to preserve the Golden Gate National Parks, enhance the park visitor experience, and build a community dedicated to conserving the parks for the future.

Their work on sites from San Mateo to Marin County, including Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Crissy Field and the Presidio. Thousands of volunteers help them with their ongoing mission.

Doug Overman is the Executive Vice President for External Affairs and Programs for the organization…he stopped by recently to talk about what the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy does, how you can get involved, and all the details about the big birthday party!
