Alameda County-Oakland Community Action Partnership

 

The Alameda County-Oakland Community Action Partnership is committed to reducing poverty by providing services and programs for low-income families and individuals. AC-OCAP has been funding projects and programs in the community since 1971.

Some of the issues they work on include affordable housing, education, job training and employment.

Estelle Clemons is the Manager of the program. She talks about the various services offered to low-income individuals and families in Alameda County.

The 7th Annual Walk to End Poverty is Saturday, May 19th, 9am to 1pm at Lake Merritt Bandstand. This is a free community event that will feature local leaders who will talk about some of the reasons and solutions for poverty.

A free shuttle will run between the event and the 19th Street Bart Station and theĀ  Lake Merritt Bart Station every half hour beginning at 8:30am.

The event will also feature live music!
