In effort to clear the air and address rumors surrounding the troubled years of the late Whitney Houston, the singer’s mother, Cissy, is currently shopping around a tell-all book written from her point of view.
Just under three months since her tragic death in February, Cissy is more interested in clearing up the rumors about her daughter’s life than capitalizing on the publicity since her death, and will cover everything from the good and the bad.
According to the New York Times, Cissy met with publishers at St. Regis Hotel in New York to pitch the tell-all book that she describes will touch on the highs and lows of her life and career.
“It’s going to be the bad, it’s going to be the good,” Cissy is reported to have told one publisher.
No one knew Whitney better than her own mother, so the book will no doubt reveal personal stories behind the curtains of her life — from the rise of her super stardom to her battle with addiction, though publishers comment that she is reluctant to touch upon that subject.
“She said, ‘There are so many lies out there and I want to dispel all of those lies,’” a publishing executive told The Times.
This tell-all book from the 78-year-old mother of Houston will be the follow up to her 1998 memoir How Sweet The Sound, and she is expected to use a ghostwriter for this book.
Another member of Houston’s close circle is also working on releasing a book since her death. Gospel singer BeBe Winans is penning a memoir about his friendship with Houston called, The Whitney I Knew.
The memoir to be released in July will include “Winans’s personal stories and anecdotes that reveal Houston’s warmth, generosity, and humor,” the publisher said in a statement.
