Our girl [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Christina Perri[/lastfm] sounded and looked truly great yesterday on the “Ellen” show. It was a really fun show to be at, not just because I really love Ellen so much but because it was one of her 12 Days of Christmas shows so the audience was freaking out even more than normal (no, to answer your next question, I did not get any of the treats - ’cause I technically wasn’t an audience member – I was a guest of Christina’s. That’s the first thing every single person has asked me!) What I didn’t realize until later though was the show I was at was the one Lindsay Lohan was SUPPOSED to be at (drama!) …
I’ve been to other talk shows before that had kinda rigid, serious vibes … this one did not! Everyone was having a blast, onstage and off. The people working backstage were all working hard, but also smiling while they were doing it. It was hilarious too to see people having serious work conversations about what was coming up, or who needed to be where, while half of them were dressed as ridiculous elves or, ya know, wrapped entirely in Christmas lights. But again, everybody – though working hard – genuinely seemed to love what they were doing. I think the vibe of the set comes from the host, and Ellen’s vibe is definitely positive. She seems like a great boss. I was super star-struck when, as I was walking off-set and back up the stairs to the artist’s area, Ellen walked right by me in the hallway. Someone was talking to her as she walked, but she still made a point of looking at me and smiling a little when she walked by. I was totally struck! And then, about 10 minutes later, Charlize Theron walked by. *passed out.* As beautiful as Charlize is on TV, I can honestly say she’s even more beautiful in person. To quote “Crazy Stupid Love,” she looks photoshopped. She’s impossibly beautiful – and continuing the theme of the day, she was lovely to the people she was with. I was at the end of the hallway, and watched her walk up in front of a doorway, chatting with a big smile on her face to the people with her…then she turned to the Ellen people and said “oop, which way do I go? This way?” and they showed her – she smiled and laughed and said “Thank you so much!” She was super-casual and kind and did I mention that she’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen?
Christina’s performance was truly stunning. It was an amazing moment, to see her doing that song – that, like her other two previous singles, Alice @ 97.3 played before anyone else in the world – on that show. I’m such a softie – I cried ☺
Her episode airs it today, don’t miss it!
