Occupy What Street?

What’s all of this Occupy Wall Street business?  And, wait…if they’re supposed to be occupying Wall Street, what are they doing in the Bay Area?

Here’s the short of it:  People are tired of Wall Street.  What that means exactly, what they’re actually tired of, or who they are, or who Wall Street is, well…none of that has quite been decided yet.

Occupy Wall Street seems to be a movement, now nation wide, now Bay Area wide, of different people who are generally upset about the way Wall Street has been behaving.

No demands have been submitted but, in general, the word “greed” is floating around a lot.

Now, between you and me, the real action isn’t happening on Wall Street, or any street for that matter.  It’s happening here, online, and especially on Twitter.  And the more people find out about how Wall Street works, the less happy they are about it.

And now #OccupyWallStreet, aka #OWS (Both popular monograms on Twitter), is here, in the Bay Area, with an active protest in San Francisco this morning, not to mention Oakland.  Apparently, more protests are coming to Walnut Creek and San Ramon too.

Check out the pictures from San Francisco this morning from SFist.com, and this article about #ows spreading to the Bay Area Suburbs.
